Recommendations of the Month

Have you been at a loss of inspiration lately? Whatever our answer at some precise moment is, we are always looking for some more. So, we want to take our mission to keep wonder alive and kicking even further by starting a series of monthly recommendations.

To start it off, some more or less random finds which resonate like crazy with our own manifesto. So, if you are still not sure what we are doing and why, click on below.

  • Creative Mornings NY talk, Maria Popova on Sanctuary : “We became the universe’s way of looking at itself. We invented telescopes and ice cream, mathematics and music, not one of which had to exist. To me, that is the daily wonder of being alive.”

Entering the zines & mags world, we were overwhelmed by all the absolutely amazing work done by fellow artists and editors, so we just need to do our part in supporting and sharing them… the first of many future features is Curio Cabinet Magazine whose team gladly answered a few questions for us.

  1. What does wonder mean to you? For us, wonder can be anything tangible or intangible that allows you to experience the feelings of admiration and awe. For many, their source of wonder can be connected to beauty, unfamiliarity, or mystery.
  2. What would you say is your most important value/thing that inspired your magazine? Our magazine was inspired by a visit to an antique shop, where our founder came across a vintage curio cabinet filled with little trinkets and “curiosities.” We asked ourselves, “What stories could each of these little trinkets hold?” Curio Cabinet Magazine is essentially a digital curio cabinet where our issues are compiled of “curios” composed of words and art.
  3. Would you recommend one piece in particular from your latest issue? One of our favorite pieces from our latest issue is the poem “Allium” by Dylan Furbay. It’s an imaginative and whimsical poem, and it fits perfectly with our current season of spring.
