i do know all this waiting has me starving
So I Go Walking
Mother’s day dinner stuffs me so full of warm alcohol and lobster ravioli and love…
Quarantine sticks me up in a house full of hidden arguments threatening to boil over at a moment’s notice…
I’m a little tired today and it’s too cold to walk to the gym anyway…
Last night forced one too many handfuls of chex mix down my throat…
Depression swirls in my stomach with the changing of the seasons and I just don’t want to have to think about anything at all.
[first published in Five Fleas Itchy Poetry]
moments before a breakdown
soggy, i sit on my floor and read poetry
waiting for you to come back
to the phone
i light honeysuckle in honor of you
and my fan blows cold against my back
drying off today’s severe thunderstorm warning
i wonder what’s taking you so long
i yearn to sleep in the bed next to yours once more
do you know that
i don’t know what you know
and what you would do if you found out
and when you ever will
but i do know all this waiting has me starving
