by Sumit Parikh
Above snowy mist and pasture
a crescent fades
manes bow in the dark ahead
and a breeze gently grazes gravel
I listen to an icy stream
and the hooves of horses
dreaming
My breath sips
a flask of cool air,
still my mind warms
in the hush
Their large eyes closed,
even those that roamed,
untroubled by anything
within or past
their fences
I close my eyes and am
suspended
in the moonlit void
a little less broken
