almost impossible to hold inside
for another interval of lost light so
you pour some rage all over the page
only to immediately feel the need to clean it up
Gifting Grace
someone somewhere someday
disappears into thin air trying to fade away
yet find themselves tugged back today by
those left behind and some who still care
even if there isn’t any there there anyway
despite the long climb to nightfall
pretending to be just another day and
through it all across time crushed into space
was that person those people those good selves
standing up to evil who struggled with
full hearts open all ways asking you to
stay present for another gift of grace
Down By the River
near the abyss again damn so trite
right with all that in your own way
simmering resentment gone astray
adjacent acute aggravation all day
plus pains in physical places
almost impossible to hold inside
for another interval of lost light so
you pour some rage all over the page
only to immediately feel the need to clean it up
as if there’s no stain then the pain goes away
but hey what can I say except that
the edge of the wedge-sliced ledger is
luckily a moment to get unstuck from
seeing only the shadows
never the light oncoming
back into being someone you might
even be proud to know if you will
just let go of the drawn-in toxic flow
you’ve been letting drown your dreams
consumed by reaping what you’ve sown
as it rains away the tearful flames and
you finally take a breath of rapt intention
wondering out loud why it took so long to
be the singer and the song streaming along
with slowly moving waters carrying runes
deposited by ancient banks of old souls who
gave thanks for the dark that shows the spark
