washed out

by Geoffrey Aitken

‏‏‎ ‎

disturbingly,

starlight is displaced

by city neon brightness

in colour codes that dim

our senses

our wonder

at the night sky.

i took my earliest

memories indoors

to be kept alive

with foster and nurture

so that i would never

lose sight of myself
