Ode on forgetting

by Pulkita Anand

I thought to tell something important
Then suddenly, I started groping

I was writing my exam
The question was something
That I read, but suddenly
It stumbled by other answers
And slipped into a deep trench
I met an old relative of mine
I thought to tell something important
Then suddenly, I started groping
What I wanted to tell
I forgot
I was logging my email
My friend dropped by
And suddenly I started fumbling
my password fell into some crevices
I was going to the market
Moved into the parking area
To realise that I forgot
My key, they left on a different journey
I could not conjure, where
I run to every nook and cranny
Of my home
To find it at last and realise
That I missed the time of the meeting
I was going for an interview
it was the downtown
I boarded the cab to realise
I didn’t have money
I came home
I felt that its surrounding had changed a bit
Maybe the earthquake has moved it
Or rain has pulled it
Anyways I entered to find strange
People in a strange manner
Oh! forgetting darling
It seems you are so dear to me
You often come unannounced
I forgot about your arrival
